"It is a joy to be hidden, but a disaster not to be found" D.W. Winnicott
Nice to meet you
ABOUT ME
My initial interest in psychotherapy started in high school in Lithuania when I discovered the world of psychology. I was fascinated by the mystery of the human mind and was curious to know why we think, feel, and behave in the ways that we do, and do it differently. What defines that? A few years later, I was in London doing a degree in psychology.
My training courses have given me opportunities to explore the spectrum of different approaches to psychotherapy, but none felt as true to me as the psychodynamic approach. Perhaps because I was able to find the answers that I was looking for. The experience of meeting and working with some great psychodynamic psychotherapists has further grown my interest in the field, and so I decided to turn my career pathway to the specialty of psychodynamic therapy. Training in psychodynamic therapy is a challenging journey that involves years of intensive learning, both professionally, as well as on a deeper, personal level.
I have worked with very diverse populations - with different age groups, genders, gender identities; different sexual identities and orientations; different ethnic, racial, cultural, and religious backgrounds; with individuals from different walks of life, and so I warmly welcome all to my practice. I believe that our backgrounds can shape us in a major way, but that equally there may be too many preconceptions. Therefore, I give a special attention to understanding what it means to the individual.
I have been honoured to witness psychodynamic therapy creating a profound positive impact on many lives, and I hope it can help you too.
With warmest wishes,
Ieva J.
